Silver Swans® Workshop

Kerry DeVine as tutor

This workshop introduces experienced ballet teachers to Silver Swans®, with a focus on safe and inclusive practice for adults and strategies to maximise their experience.

Aim

To provide practical experience of effective ballet teaching strategies for a group of mixed ability older learners.


Dancing in the Moment, Working with People Living with Dementia

A workshop with Pauline Hasse

This interactive workshop aims to inspire dance teachers to use their skills and knowledge of music, movement, and teaching to provide dance sessions for people living with dementia.

The workshop commences with an introduction touching on some of the joys and challenges of working with people living with dementia, before participating in a dance class with people who have been attending. Pauline’s dance sessions weekly or bi-weekly for the past year. As a group, Pauline will facilitate a discussion on how her students, and their family members have experienced the classes and what they feel they have gained. Following this section of the workshop, you will be given an opportunity to contemplate and discuss your observations, questions and queries on how you might take the work forward.

Kerry graduated from Northern Ballet School, Manchester in 1999. with my RAD Student Teaching certificate. AISTD Diploma in Classical Ballet, Modern Theatre, Tap Dance and National Dance. NBS Diploma.

Dementia workshop tutor: Pauline Hasse

Graduated from Norwegian National Ballet School, Oslo 1975-1977 and danced in the national norwegain ballet until 1999. Afterwords this she has worked with elders in a nursing home.

NEW Online course:

Introduction to Mentoring (2 March – 5 June 2020)

Available twice a year, this course is run on Moodle (our Virtual Learning Environment), and can be accessed for approximately 14 weeks. The course materials are available within this period, and you can make your way through the resources at your own pace. This online course is worth 6 hours Time-Valued CPD.

Gain knowledge and understanding of the principles of effective mentoring, and to apply these principles to the mentoring of trainee teachers.
